Porta Nova

I meant to put this blogpost up yesterday, but when we got home, drama ensued. We were walking to our house when two men ran past, followed by a younger guy who shouted for help as the men had stolen money. Stefane and my brother ran after them and I panicked and ran straight to the house to get my mum for help. We went to where the others had ran off and found out the men had escaped, and one of them had hit Stefane on the head with a metal knife sharpener. The police arrived to look for the men and get statements and then we went straight to the hospital and spent three hours waiting to be seen. Luckily, Stefane is alright but has a huge bruise below his eyebrow, but we were all shaken up, obviously, so that explains why I wasn't able to blog. Sunday was Mother's day in Luxembourg, so we all went out for lunch. We chose to go to Porta Nova, which is an Italian restaurant in Limpertsberg. We used to go there a lot when we were younger and I always associate it with fun memories. 

The restaurant is a bit hidden, in between the Utopia cinema and the Magnum club, and is right near the Glacis. The interior has changed a lot since the last time I was there and is really clean and modern. They also have a covered terrace, but since it has been so hot these last few days (up to 33°C!), we decided to book a table inside. Unfortunately they didn't have the air conditioning on and we all suffered a little bit because of that. Service was good however and everyone was really friendly.

I decided to change things up a bit and order meat filled cannelloni instead of pizza. It was absolutely delicious and really filling. Stefane had Pizza Scampi (pizza with prawns), my brother had Pizza Porta Nova, which had parma ham, rocket and philadelphia cheese, my dad and my grandmother both had Saltimbocca alla romana (veal topped with proscuitto) and chips, my mum had Scampi a l'ail (garlic prawns) and chips and finally, my sister had Pizza Parmigiana, which is pizza with parma ham.

We were all completely satisfied and happy with what we had chosen, but by the time the dessert menu came around we were all boiling hot again. So naturally we used that as a perfectly acceptable excuse to get a nice, cold dessert! 

It was a hard decision to make, since the dessert menu offered so many amazing choices. I ended up ordering a Dame Blanche, which is vanilla ice cream, cream and hot melted chocolate that is poured over the ice cream. It was delicious but as per usual, too much to finish. The others all went for different things, like banana slit, strawberry ice cream, panna cotta and nougat glacé. 

I would say that price wise, it is standard for Italian restaurants here in Luxembourg, not too expensive but not especially cheap, so somewhere in the middle, but completely reasonable for the portion sizes and quality of the food that you get. 

All in all, we all really enjoyed ourselves and left feeling full. They have a website which I will link here, where you can find the address and their phone number so you can book a table in advance. They also have an online version of the menu, but they don't do home deliveries.

It's the fourth day of June and all we get is rain! My boyfriend was lucky enough to go away on a short trip to Lisbon and was able to spend some time on a beach, since the weather was so lovely. Jealousy doesn't even begin to describe it! But he did surprise me by coming back bearing gifts and I couldn't wait to try them all on. He got me a lovely set of bracelets, my favourites being the gold spikey one and the grey and gold feather one. He also bought me a gorgeous navy blue, lightweight scarf with white hearts on it. 

My wedges weren't exactly weather appropriate but to be honest I was too lazy to go and change them and I hardly ever wear them. They aren't the most comfortable pair of wedges I own, but I love how they look.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any links for the jumper, coat and wedges because I bought them a few months ago.

It's become a new tradition of mine to have more fail outfit photos than actual decent ones, but I like to include them because sometimes they are just to funny.

MAC Palette

My lovely boyfriend bought me a MAC palette and a handful of eyeshadows a few years ago for Christmas, which I will be eternally grateful for as all together it was quite expensive.

I hadn't even heard of MAC Cosmetics until 2011, which is crazy. I haven't actually bought any of these eyeshadows myself because my siblings have been getting them one by one for birthdays and Christmases, which again I am really grateful for. (Don't worry, I spoil them as much as they spoil me!) My boyfriend asked me to make a list of the ones I liked the look of and then chose a couple of them. I still have the list minus a large amount and whenever it's my birthday or Christmas and people ask for ideas of what to get me, I give them that same list.

I have to admit, despite having all three (much loved) Urban Decay Naked palettes, my MAC palette is the one I reach for most often. Perhaps because I was able to choose every single eyeshadow which means I am more likely to use all of them. The quality and colour pay off is amazing and price wise, they aren't the most expensive eyeshadows out there. But like I said, it's a great present idea, and it's nice to fill up the palette slowly. The only downside is if you get normal eyeshadows instead of the ones in pan form and have to depot them because I am really not the best at doing that, hence why two of the eyeshadows have dents in them (I almost cried).

My absolute favourite of them all has to be Sable. I adore it because it is great for daytime and nighttime looks. But honestly, I love all of the shadows. 

I think in order to well and truly complete my palette, and make it perfect, I would need a few matte shades, as it is lacking a few good crease colours or even an eyeshadow for filling in my brows.
